Cool edit pro would be an upgrade on what I use I got a free version of Magix Music maker on a magazine around 2 years ago. It is a very basic 8 track program, but it does what I need it to. I play modt of my instruments in via a USB pre-amp though, which helps give better control of the sound quality. Oh - and I record my vocals with a shure SM-58 (also through the pre-amp)
I like to keep things as basic as possible - one thing I most definitely am not is a sound engineer

nice one, only 1/3 to go then
Don't worry - that doesn't sound too far removed from my own "set up" here Plug in, turn on and cop out

That is cool. One thing I guess I didn't praise in the comment was your piano playing - but trust me I was impressed. Looking forward to hearing the final version
Just out of interest, what is your recording set up there?
